Absolutely. I play MMOs like WoW, FFXIV, and ESO. I play Fallout, Mass Effect and TES. Here lately I’ve spent some time on GTA Online building myself a small criminal empire. It’s a great way to decompress.

Ive started to play Elders Scroll, but since I mostly play by myself and haven't really joined any particular group, i had focused on other activities. That being said I don't like starting a game and not get through most of it. The two other guys I play with are programmers from Mexico City and they have an alternative sleep schedule where they play way later than I do.

I pretty much play the above mentioned games on Steam, GoG, Origin,Ubi Gw2,ESO. Atm I am needing to load all that back onto my new baby "Apex Predator" I had a lot of fun building her and modding everything out.
So if any of you want to get slapped around and totally P'owned by a true gaming master..... until they get here..............Will I do ? *wink*

I play the Sims as well as BattleFront2, Battlefield 1-4, GTAV, and a few others, I prefer to get on when I am more stressed or when my hubby is playing.

I love nostalgic games, but also play WOT - not often a stress reliever but sometimes pays off. I've been a gamer since Apple ][+ era, back in 1982.

Sometimes I turn to games for stress releif. Mostly computer games like PUBG, Slay The Spire, anything on Steam. My honest to God go to is the gym though - get those endorphins going to relieve stress.

I agree with the exercise. I never tried the games for stress relief, but I have heard it works.

Agree, pushing weights around does give the best stress relief. However, my disability restricts me from exercising to where I can workout hard enough to feel the stress relief. So I play video games and it works for me, always has.

I still don't understand why some Veterans like to play those types after going through what we did. I can understand and explain from my perspective and I don't play FPS and war type games.
If it's not triggering anything then 'what' do you get out of it?

I not only use as stress relief, but at one time it was a major way for me to calm my anxiety from PTSD.

Absolutely! I plan breaks into my day specifically for stress relief. I know not everyone can do that and may play at night or on weekends. But I find that playing RPGs help the most. It's helpful when you can immerse yourself into a character and play out the scenarios. Your mind can be completely elsewhere.

The RPGs I enjoy playing are the Mass Effect Series, Fallout Series, Dragon age series, Civilization, and the Assassin's Creed series. I do play online games like Smite as well.

I do not consider online games or multiplayer modes as a stress relief as you are normally playing as a team and have other people screaming into your headset. Especially for competitive people, it can have the opposite effect of stress relief. We all know those people-they lose a match and chuck their controller, break their keyboard, take it out on their spouse/kids and be mad the rest of the day.

Since I work from home and have small children, I can't always play video games as freely as I used to. Both my husband and I enjoy reading as an alternative. I know some people that enjoy going for a walk/run for stress relief as well. There are other options out there when gaming doesn't work out.

Most definitively.
I don't play co-op or multi-player. I agree with a lot of what you like as well. I don't have to worry about someone else's schedule and performance.
I haven't seen that in person and only on the internet. Music, jogging/running, and some good horror movies are what work for me.

If you are into a game, PTSD fades into background noise.

I constantly turn to video games as a stress relief, it helps me move my focus from the things that are stressing me, to something much simpler. To each their own though, everyone is different.

Yes, I do it a lot. It helps my PTSD. I can’t concentrate in different things other than thinking on what happened during war.
