Yes, the simple games help me relax. The violent ones I do not like

Played FIFA with my son as a way to recreate together. I won once or twice of the couple hundred games we played!

I played World of Warcraft for over ten years, part as stress relief and just for fun. Haven't played in nearly a year due to time constraints, but it's still installed on my laptop waiting for a day I have some time.

I also ventured into WoW. During a deployment, the wife cheated (long story) and I moved back home to rebuild my life. Part of it was playing that with a couple of cousins which really helped me with integrating back into civilian life.

I will also say the game causes some stress. A captain that worked for me at Knox gave me the vanilla game in 2006. He wanted someone to team up with, but all he did was battlegrounds. I tried that but it wasn't for me (I didn't know how to play and just kept dying) so I focused on questing and learning to play. I didn't know the difference between PvP and PvE realms and I started on his PvP realm. It was nearly impossible to level on that realm; all other high level players did was camp rookies and kill all NPCs. I stopped playing for a while until the captain asked me why. When I told him, he said, "Oh, there are servers where players can't gank you." He never quested and only played in low level areas, rarely venturing into contested areas. I still remember the level 60 undead rogues, Regret and Remorse, that killed everything in Lakeshire and never allowed anyone to quest in Redridge.

Video games are my go to to decompress. Although frustration leave is high at times, glad game can not talk back.

absolutely! i have been playing WoW (world of warcraft) for many years now. i have ptsd, agoaphobia (very related to my ptsd), panic attacks, and some other physical diagnoses. WoW has been not only stress relief, it has been my window on the world and has allowed me to interact with the world in a safe and non threatening way. i have panic attacks if i go into crowds or even when meeting new people, yet i can make new friends in the game and not have that happen. if anything feels unsafe i can just log out for awhile. the people i meet online are from all over the world, intelligent, and have a huge variety of outlooks, backgrounds, cultures and views and this helps me see outside of myself. i have made some very close and supportive friends whom i also talk to on skype and facebook. other than my family members, it is my social network, and i feel it is essential for my peace of mind.
