I do as well. I've learned over the years what works for me.

Video games have been a great stress relief and a way to connect to my son. So much so that he is pursuing a degree in video game design to help other veterans and their families.

My husband and I both are veterans. We often play games together for stress relief and bonding.

Yes, I use to play video games almost non stop for hours upon hours. Now I monitor my escape from reality. I mostly play shooters and madden. Almost lost my family over it until I learned how to monitor the escape of my demons inside.

At least you learned to control your impulses. I had active duty friends that did lose their families over video games. World of Warcraft plays a powerful sirens song that some can't resist...

Yes I have. I play games that allow me to create and destroy as I see fit such as Minecraft and 7 days to die on pc. I also play ark (as frustrating as that game is) and elite dangerous on ps4.

Yes. They provide me an opportunity to unwind and not “think” for a while. I do limit my time so as to not alienate my family or make them feel that I am using them to isolate myself.

That's great news. Very good for you and very thoughtful for your family. Look into multi-player games, that way you can involve everyone and build a stronger family bond. It's always an option...

YES! but I have to kill all sound first. I play older type games where you don't look down a gun barrel or sight a specific object. no gore - just the tally of how many killed or wounded. I also play Soluetare, Chess, Souduko, Majoung, I'm also a terrible speller. every program needs a spell checker in it. So I don't socialize much as I'm also a two finger typest. The Games help put me in a safe place.

I use IRacing and Farm Simulator to relieve my stress. I also do the endurance events to help with it usually on IRacing the daytona 24.
