Yep, back injury got worse so no exercise for me. I use PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The game need concentration so you can't think about your problems. Works for me :)

When I first came back from Iraq with severe PTSD, I was yelling st my family all the time, like yhay were the reason for everything bad that had happened.
My Doc was the one that told me to play video games, preferably mission based shooters, because they give you clear cut goals and objectives st the beginning of each mission, and upon completing the mission you got that feeling of accomplishment that made you feel good. I don't go online, because the 12 y/o's cussing in my ear have the opposite effect.
I learned to channel all my pain and anger into the game, instead of taking it out on my family.
My wife and I both agree that it is one of the things that helped save our marriage. Now when I'm stressed, she'll tell me to go do my therapy, and I'll go play one mission, and come back in a better mood.

Playing video games lets me concentrate on the game and forget every thing for awhile.

Definitely. To be honest, video games probably saved my live. I now work developing new IPs for video games and tv/films. They help me escape my anxiety and paranoia.

Yes . But the only games that seem to help me has to be military based. Ghost recon. Call of duty ect. Is that weird

I use to get great relief from games, started with chess, then video games to computer strategy games. Stopped when they started having to stream them, because being on a fixed income I could not afford the high speed needed. Also the privacy issues always in the back of my mind. Now, I just send the wife away for a week when I get it bad. No reason she should suffer with me or because of me.
