Yes, I served as a Corpsman from '95 - '03. I would play games sometimes when I had a bad day working in the ER. It really did helped me decompress & forget for a while. I remember a psychiatrist said games were not the answer to my problems even if it was for a short time. Well it helped me in the moment & it was a better solution than other bad habits. Funny how more Veterans are doing the same thing and it helps them a little. We couldn't all just stop & talk about what's going on in the middle of chaos everyday.

I like to play a lot of older games to help me calm down. These can be Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and games from that era. I will play newer games, but that's not the bread and butter for me.

I turned video games to relieve stressful emotional times, but I also use video games that support slowing my cognitive degeneration from a TBI sustained in Desert Storm.

Yes. Mostly for escapism. I find military games that are photo realistic to be bothersome. But a game that get me to forget and lose myself in it is amazing!

YES, after surgery for brain aneurysm and two strokes I use video games to work mind and hand coordination. I play building games rather than shoot-em-ups. I am 70!
