No video games do not relieve stress, however video games in the long term will cause more stress to service members and civilians. Reason why I used to play them and began to lose focus on more important factors like having a healthy relationship with my friend and family. Games become an addiction and you lose sight on what's important in your future. Just cause a majority of the world plays them I say on the contrary to what the masses are doing and stop living in a fantasy world and wake up.

I can debate this both ways but that response was from my own situation. I could never speak on behalf of another persons mental state. I would love to see some real data on this from a short term or long term study.

This can be true, however it can also be false. It all depends on the individual and how they interact with the video game. The same can be true to tobacco and alcohol in the sense that if the individual relies to heavily on them then they become "addicted." With that being said, food, video games, board games, RPGs, tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, TV shows, hunting, fishing, anything can be used as a means to de-stress "or relax." It is like you said, when the individual becomes addicted and loses contact with the "real world" is when the issue occur.

Yes sometimes I want to take my stress out with the In game stuff and also communication to other players helps me talk and work things out kinda like going to groups.

You bet. Madden, Swtor, zelda, and more. Very centering. Even Call of Duty and violent games... for me they are just a way to be competitive and practice hand eye.

I raced cars on dirt tracks and did a lot of drag racing and still love to race even on my PS4

I will love to, tp work on stress, attitude, just be mad all the times. I need something to take the edge off. How could I get the free vedio game?

There are many games available for free on Google play store and also on the Apple store thingy... if you have a PC/laptop, a program/gaming platform called "Steam" has a bunch of games available, and I just heard they are offering free games to Veterans. Try them out and good luck!

This is exactly why I gave up gaming for a while, because it just wasn't worth the increased stress. Now I rather turn to walking my dogs, read, do some type of exercise, pick a hobby, or put some music or TV on. (I do stay away from war movies.) But when I do play a game, I typically levitate towards games such that do not involve any type of in-game purchases, don't have any bosses or other players to beat, and limit my play time. If you do want to play a game, I strongly advise anyone with PTSD (impulsive behavior, poor self control, etc.) to stay away from those types of games and stick with low stress ones. The high stress ones get out of control real quick. I had to learn the hard way. Do not make the same mistake I did. It just might save you a a big credit card & phone repairs bills. Good luck.

I like video games to relieve stress sometimes, then again if I can’t kill the big boss, it increases my stress level until I achieve my goal eventually.
