USAFE Football Ramstein Rams 1982.wmv
1982 Continental Sports Conference Championship football game between the Ramstein Rams and the Zweibrucken Warriors.
I loved the Air Force during the 80s at Ramstein AB, Germany. We had football teams, basketball teams, softball and intramural softball. Ramstein had some mighty football teams.
I remember the Ramstein Rams and beating Sembach 74-7 and 50-6. It was like high school but better and had quite a few college level athletes. Our kicker kicked for Alabama and Mr Air Force was our nose tackle.
I played on the Weather team and winning a lot of games at Ramstein and practiced and played in Kaiserslautern. I remember getting into a fight because a 3rd baseman shoved me off the base. Our coach was angry and pushed the 3rd baseman.

I can't believe I stumbled upon this post. I was stationed at Sembach AFB in 1987-1989 and played USAFE softball, basketball and Volleyball. I was trying to find if softball was USSSA or ASA rules, does anyone know?

I didn't play but attend the 1982 USAFE championship football game between Ramstein and RAF Upper Heyford, played at Upper Heyford. I was stationed just 8 miles up the road at RAF Croughton. We fell under the 20th TFW and had guys who played on the Upper Heyford football team. One was one of my co-workers in our shop, big Ron "Moby" Dick, who was All-USAFE and played left tackle.

I was at Ramstein from 1972-1989. My Dad worked for the government as a GS-16. Loved watching the semi pro football games. It was great especially since we were always one of the best teams in Europe. Even our Jr High and High School teams were good. A little unfair probably since we were the biggest base with the most people to choose from. Never understood why the new high school built back in the 1983 went with a different name and went with the Royals vs the Rams.

I played football for the Wiesbaden Flyers in 88,89,90. There was several players I thought could play or go pro and many players that could've played at least DIV I football but never did. I guess the military was a better way of life back then. It was for me. Keith Craig was by far the best athlete our team had, but there were others that I'm fairly sure could have played DIV I football in college, myself included.
