In person I have not come across anyone who wore the glider badge since they would be a WWII veteran. I try to see what pins of different units or specialties they wear on their hats. If I remember right, the Ft Campbell museum had (at the time) pictures of WWII Soldiers with them.

I spent 4 years in the 70's active with the 101st and never saw a set on a serving soldier.
BUT, if you're so inclined, and want to see just how flimsy these were, there's a Waco glider on display inside Pratt Museum that you can walk thru. Think of aluminum tubing from lawn chairs covered with an outdoor awning type material. Steering wheels from a Soap box derby car, operating tiny steel cables to steer, and the least trained pilot with the largest set of cojones ever, and you're on the right track. The dummies in the pic have 2/327th clubs on their helmets.

COL Ed Gibson - thank you for your service to this nation. I enjoyed my time in the 101st Airborne Division and have moved on to many other units since then. I never go the opportunity to go airborne but did graduate from air assault school in 2007. Hope all is well for you these days too.
