Home Depot, especially since I have been keeping them in business for the last 7 years while remodeling a house.

To be honest yes, I use the veterans discounts when and where offered, the VA and the prescription med mailing program. I also apply for the veterans considerations and points when applying for government jobs. These are all nice things that folks do for service members and veterans and are appreciated.

I've taken advantage of military discounts and deals.
That said I don't feel the need to get angry at businesses that don't have it. I ask and if they have it great I saved a few bucks, if they don't oh well no harm in asking.
Edit....
I think I got out of a ticket because I was in uniform at the time.

As a former gahw-dong-stinkin(hello)bag-nasty reservist... no, not really :-P
But in all seriousness, I did use the VA to buy/refi a home.
I also consider associating myself with the U.S. military as veteran as a MAJOR benefit in itself though!

Lot's of folk talk about discounts, etc. for military. The stores have different discounts for different folk., e.g. seniors. We have a hardware store here with military discount, Wednesdays only. Go figure. So the pretty much MIL only things are the freebies on Veterans and Memorial day. Olive Garden, IHop and others do a free meal. So long as their bottom line is helped by advertising "We support the 1.4%" I'd expect it to continue. In military towns, so much of the economy exists because they're there. I do remember when the anti MIL 'Nam sentiment was so strong, there were no MIL discounts and you'd be shamed at a minimum if you asked for one.

Purposefully, no. But I have received a military discount here or there when someone happened to see my ID card or they noticed my wallet. I have a digital cammie wallet, 1 woodland, 1 desert. I used to swap them out with the uniform change.
Though I was thinking of actually going out this Veteran's Day for a change. Chipotle is having a Buy One, Get One offer I was thinking of taking advantage of. Been awhile since I've eaten there.

Hi, PO2 Martin.
The VA's Vocational Rehabilitation program paid for college, and I just got a VA home loan. Those are the to big uses. I've had people anonymously buy my lunch.

Yes. From the travel opportunities while overseas, to the GI Bill, to the relatively inexpensive Disneyland passes at MWR (was a real saver for a family of 5), to the occasional discounts at Lowe's, IHOP and the mom and pop diner i frequent.
