Many people rightly claim that Christianity once held that title, but they grew out of it. Islam doesn't appear to have any intention of growing out of anything, does it?

I am not the least bit surprised SGM (Join to see).
Islam is a works dominated religion which requires the faithful to attempt to meet the requirements of the five pillars of Islam. The faithful are encouraged to support their own, tax unbelievers at best and subjugate or kill them at worst.
The wealthy Islamic countries which have significant oil reserves are infamous for the ways they treat their immigrant labor who are considered non-citizens and have less rights that the citizens.

I have heard similar statistics, however it seems to be cyclic. Christian nations used to be the worst significantly, but every major religion has had it's time in the spotlight on this front, or will.
