So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Why present oneself as a military person that you are or were not? Are they that hard up for admiration?

I have never encountered some one going as far as dressing up in uniform. But i have had multiple people tell me they were in or this is just as bad lie about there job in the military. If you didnt have the balls to go join or didnt have the balls to be a grunt. Sit down shut up be proud of who you are or what you did. You only disgrace yourself when you lie. If you were a pog be a proud pog. Guess thats all i gotta say.

There is a fine line between redneck and stolen Valor, redneck is usually just the pants.

Man, I hate when these POS SOBs do this. There are so many Veterans out there that are denied repeatedly for benefits and care and yet these assholes pull this. My opinion, --just my thoughts-- is shake his hand, invite him to a VFW or American Legion and allow fate to take its course and have this fake receive what comes to him that he richly deserves.

If I thought the guy was making money off of his BS I would report him to the cops. Otherwise if I was sure he was just a fake I would tell him to his face he was a pitiful loser and walk away. I am too old to fight and a fake soldier is not worth the trouble you would go through for shooting him. BUT!, if he physically attacked me I would have no choice.

I bled for my country, and watched my brothers in arms give the ultimate sacrifice for it. Stolen valor is disrespectful. If you want to wear the uniform, you should join the military, where they can teach you how to wear it properly. Then, you can sign a blank check for your life (or death), and actually be deserving of the things you will be too proud to ask for.

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
