So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

No, never. But if I do, I'll just laugh at them. It's ridiculous to lie about something like serving in the military.

I have but never said anything about it. I dont know their situation some people think that they are supporting the military or they just want to feel important. it really doesnt bother me unless they are doing it to get handouts or discounts. But hey whats 10% anyway. not knocking law enforcement cause I do plan on becoming a cop in the near future but they get 50% off at some places.

My father my grandfather and my uncle served in the military I admire them. but as much as I wanted to be like them I knew from when I was young as much as I wanted to wear bdu's with patches and bars I never did because i didn't earn them. My grandfather made it very clear of how much it meant to him and my dad for earning what they had. So when he past away and the family passed his military service awards and footlocker down to me I cherished it because behide the medals the awards was the man my grandfather.

I meet one at college and yelled at him after I asked him questions. I made him take the uniform off and he ran home in his sponge bob boxers.

No, I have yet to see one, but have heard some BS stories from civilians. Having retired about 4 years ago, my uniform of the day is now usually a Marine vet ball cap, T-shirt and Tiger stripe, from VN era, cargo pants. If it gets a little chilly I'll throw on the jacket. (No, I was not Recon, SEAL or ARVN ranger, those who usually wore TS.) The pants are rugged and long wearing and I long ago gave up style for utility. I have about 5 sets of pants including shorts. This manner of dress has collected a few bullshit artists over the years. I just shut them down and leave. I believe attitude and presence says more about who you are than clothing and it's hard to hide that, or reproduce it.

I probably would have just said "what a piece of shit" and walked off, not worth my time
