So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Can you please forwsrd my last post to SSG Rayan R.? For some reason, his posing, chicken ass blocked me. Hopefully, he can see it, if not, wiuld you be as so kind to forward it to him? Thank you in advance.

As follows: SSG Ryan R. I'll show you posing you fuck. Ever make it over to Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, just come to 4th Street and Erie, and Erie, and I'm on the corner house. If I'm not there, I'll be at Herrington Harbour South, only 3 miles from my house, in or on my boat, slip F-2. I'll give you some counseling, and personally rip those God damn ribbons and metals off your body!!!! I made E-7 a few times and it was shutting people's pie holes, like yours pussy boy. And for your personal enjoyment, bitch boy, I passed on promotion more than once. Another piece of valuable advice, stick to what you know, and that's punching your little fucking keyboards. If you want another lesson in punching, you have my information. Won't hold my breath, POSER bitch boy. end of statement.

As Post Service Officer for American Legion #1 Portland, OR I had to tell a guy hitting us up for cash that just saying you served is not serving. Cut his story up and fought real hard not to do more than show the door to him. Made made sure to announce it to my Vietnam combat vets relaxing by the bar as he left. They assured him proper exit.

Yes, it disgusts me. But always fun to ask them simple questions. Like "What was your MOS?" I kid you not, I was talking to this gentleman who had been dressed in full ACU. and what started this conversation was the fact that he had his cover on indoors. While eating. Im thinking well that aint right Haha. So I sat down next to him talked for a minute. The kid was maybe 24 or 25. He told me that he had served in Iraq for nine years. And again my brain is like hmmm. The conversation continues and finally we get to the topic of his MOS. Haha. Lord bless his soul. He simply said "My MOS is m16 a1 grenader". Im stumped completely at this point. So I continue knowing better. I tell him my father served in the desert during shield and storm, I went on saying my uncle is SPFC ODA574 "Basically a badass" finally. At the end he looked at me and said. "You know, don't you?" all I did was look him in the eye and said "whatever floats your boat". That was the one and only time I have ever met a poser. But to those who are brave enough god bless you all.

I saw one a few months ago. I was in a pawn shop, and there was a kid in ABUs, with tan suede western looking boots- unbloused- messed up hair, and a light beard. He was young, so at first I assumed he was JROTC, but he had TSgt (or SSgt, I can't remember) rank, and actual USAF tabs. I had just gotten done doing my lawn, so I was wearing my old coveralls (no longer uniform) with the US NAVY tape removed, but my name tape intact, and my boots on and bloused. He was looking at a handgun to purchase, and I think he was trying to get a discount by claiming service. Almost everyone at that shop is a USMC, or USA vet, so they could tell what he was doing, and he wasn't gonna get jack. He saw me standing behind him, and got kinda nervous and left. I probably would have said something to him quietly, but I wasn't going to make a scene in these people's place of business over some dumb kid.

My problem with it isn't as much about their claims "stealing valor" from those who do serve honorably- my problem is that they give all of us a bad look. They go around looking like a hot mess, claiming a bunch of crap that no vet or SM would ever brag about. The people they talk to come out of it thinking that we're all disrespectful, boastful murderers that love talking about how many "kills" we got.
