So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

My wife would have throat punched him. She has crawled all over assholes like that in Walmart before. She asked me for my ID card then showed it to them and demanded to see theirs. They turned and ran with her on their heels. Funny as hell to see it.

It wasn't the point of somebody wearing ACUs, etc. He was lying about rank and didn't even know what the hell he was talking about.

I honestly have more of an issue when i see real soldiers that are doing stuff in uniform hours after duty. Especially when we're from the same unit and I've showered and changed before going out. Its easy to recognize a chewed up phony and most civilians can see that. But it really revs me up when one of my soldiers is parading and looking for handouts. If we keep ourselves squared away like we're supposed to it'll make us easier to recognize. Civilians are always going to do shit we wont like. Embrace the suck cause its always gonna suck.

I little while ago there was a post by a man that was wearing a military mixture of uniform and a manager of a resturant went to this individual to take his meal away that he had gotten at a discount, caused a big stir, was on the news, etc. all because someone else told the manager that the guy was stealing valor, he was'nt he looked like he was. So now everyone is up in ams, wants the manager fired and free meals for life for the former soldier.. during my 27 years, mostly at the end, there was a saying stay in your lane, I'll grade mine you grade yours. Who made you the false valor or wearing of a former uniform police? what do you care about the old guy at the memorial day parade having is hand shaked and being told thank you why does it bother you? if a person gets a free or discounted meal or cup of coffee, how does that affect you? Most of the time it makes the presentor feel good about themselves at a very little cost, and the person receiving? that maybe the only meal they get that day it has obsolutely no affect on my service, or my way of life.
