So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

I was scammed for two years by a man who said he was a Marine. He always gave reasons of national security as to why he could never call. He tgot over three thousand dollars from me. I finally spoke to my brother about what was going on. He retired from the army and was the one who broke the news that I was being scammed.

I don't know if I could have avoided beating him down right there... my tolerance and patience for BS is slipping badly.

E-7 petty officer? Petty Officer? An E-7 in the Navy is a Chief. And no Chief would ever leave out the "chief" in Chief Petty Officer.

first off, an e-7 in the Navy is a chief Petty officer, not a rate, which by the way no longer exists and is now referred to an N.O.S. stated by NavAdmin. the uniform was mixed with other branches, and was extremely out of regs.

A buddy of mine and I where introduced to a poser by another friend (Craig). Craig had known the guy for a couple of years, but not being prior military he had no reason not to believe what the guy had told him. The guy claimed he had been in the Army and was a Ranger. Right off the bat we knew he was full of crap when James told him that he had been in the Army as well and had been with 25th ID out of Schofield. The dude responded with a comment about 25th ID being Special Operations. It went downhill from there especially with the Ranger part when James began politely "interrogating" him on specifics regarding Ranger school. We were cool about it not wanting to cause friction between us and Craig, as well as between Craig and the poser. Once we had the opportunity James pulled Craig aside and told him the guy is full of shit.
