So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Is there a video to go with the picture? Just by looking at it maybe he is not all there there are plenty of people out there that are mentally handicapped but like to dress up as the military for obvious reasons like they want to join but can't. Just saying

I saw a homeless man well posibly wasnt homeless posing as a vet wearing an iraq war hat DCU top and holding a sign that said veteran need help. I parked my truck got out, had on my Iraq War hat and 20 bucks in my hand to give him. i called him over. He was very hesitant n i sensed something wrong right away.. he came over n i asked him what unit were u in. He mumbled special ranger force.. with a thick french accent.. i bought lost it. But wife was in car so i didnt say a word. He could see it in my eyes. He huried off doin the "im bout to get wooped quickstep". I got back in my truck told the wife how disgusted i was that he is no vet and posing as one.. went shopping came back out n he was on another corner. as we drove by i noticed his vet hat DCU top and vet sign were gone. I was pissed this dude playing peeps. i see him all the time now. But no vet gear or sign anymore.. sucks some peeps think they can get away with it. n im sure thousands do.. what a shame.

There is a homeless man in my town (Boulder CO) who begs with a cardboard sign claiming he was a Marine in Vietnam. I have spoken with him several times to see if there was a way to get him off the streets. There would be if the DOD had any record of service. Many in the town know him by his claims therefore take care of him whether he is actively begging or not. When I called him on this, he made many excuses as to why he doesn't need help from the VA. It is infuriating to see people grateful for what he claims to have done walk past real veterans to thank him with donation.

I seen a kid. In army BDU uniform at the store. No dog tag in boot, Army patch with no unit or symbols of distinction a cover with no rank and name tapes all muffed up. So before i embarrassed him i asked wtf is he so jacked up for. Turns out he dont go to bootcamp for a month, was i wrong for aggressively approaching him?

I think you were right to ask but I wouldn't get at him too hard, he's going to serve whether now or later. Just my opinion

Some National Guard units issue uniform to new guys to wear to drill prior to shipping out to basic.

I agree if a person poses as a military person throat punch is in order. It is really sad to see it, most posers claim to be military when they are not but we can see through that quickly and I usually can embarrass them into shutting down

I haven't personally witnessed impersonation, however my Uncles who served our country from WWII down to desert storm ran across it a lot. I could see the anger in their faces told the story loud enough for me to understand.

Where did he get the flag patch with no stars?
Perhaps he is a seamstress conducting social experiments!!!
I also do not understand today's fashion statements, wearing white after Labor Day i thought was against the rules. Doc Marten does make fine boots though.......................
