So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

These guys make me laugh. I'm not at all bothered by it if a guy is trying to get a free cup of coffee by telling people he served. Or simply wanting some attention. What bothers me more, is the "veteran" who served for a short period, never deployed, never did shit, and claiming they have PTSD and other shit wanting a check for the rest of their life. I have less respect for them.

I guy had posed as a General of Nato. Retired and was dating an acquaintance of my wife. But couldn't name any aircraft in service.

The core of this issue all comes down to telling the truth. Just like we were taught in Sunday School as kids. If someone wants to wear an Army Ranger or Marine shirt/hat/uniform/etc. do it. But when you're asked about it tell the truth. No, I didn't serve but I wear it because I like it/I want to/I support the troops/whatever.

What a joke worked at VA with poser who had phony metals swore he was a Vietnam vet. Married hos ex and found his DD214 he served at Fort Campbell not Vietnam. He would bring in phony metals everytime he got on a bind at work.
