So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Yes, even have one in my family. He actually served honorably and due to his service did very well in civilian life. Started embellishing his service "in special ops" and continues to think that I believe him. I have never confronted him because he does not have one friend left who will give him the time of day - mostly due to his embellishments. His actual accomplishments are enough to satisfy the average Joe (to include me), but his constant additions, especially on his military service, have completely turned me away.

Why not just drive him to a homecoming for marines who's deployment was extended another six months and let the wives beat the snot out of him.

Just let the PTSD kick in and rip the uniform off his back.

I fully understand that. I am a non combat vet. Suffer from PTSD myself over some shit that happened. I don't care for posers, you should see the looks I get when I say I was in the ORANG went full-time USAF. 63b20 transferred to heavy equipment mechanic 4725 in the AF. Missed Vietnam. I went to Ft Dix for basic and ait in Jan 1974. 76 went to Lackland AFB from the went to Minot AFB, 78 went to Clark AFB.
Got out in 78. First wife went nuts and got out on a humanitarian discharge. Wish I had followed through on my plan to spend 20 in and retire.
Years ago I ran into a guy 7 years younger than me that said he was in Vietnam. When I found out his age I called him a liar to his face. I was 19 in 1974. They were pulling troops out.

Interesting... In '91, I was mobilized in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and attended my last MUTA-IV. Some folks were wigging out and so WTF did they sign up for? I was disappointed with them, especially the so-called fire eaters that used to brag about their exploits in USAEUR. Glad I mob'ed as an individual...

I've seen some interesting folks, one in particular sticks out in my mind, individual with a mullet hair cut, desert cammi's, weighs about 300lbs.....trying to collect money for the Navy Relief....no name tapes, no ID card or CAC......just a wanna be trying to collect enough money so he could score a case of beer......pretty sad really......then there are the guys that I ran into while contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan......Usually they are employed by Haliburton or KBR....claiming to be Force Recon, Navy Seals.......you get the picture, never mind that they aren't armed or going outside the wire.....just sad that they think they are fooling people

So if I am understanding this story correctly. A former employee for a company you use to work for got fired, because he was threatening everyone and not because he claimed he was in the army and marines at the same time?
