So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

I AM A RETIRED AIR FORCE VETERAN WHO RETIRED IN 1994. MY STORY GOES LIKE THIS. IN 2007, SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS, THEIR WIVES, ME AND MY WIFE RODE OUR BIKES TO STURGIS AND STAYED AT THE BUFFALO CHIP CAMPGROUND. AS I AM A DESERT STORM VETERAN I HAD DESSERT STORM PATCHES , AIR FOCE PATCHES, AND PINS ON MY VEST. SINCE MY RETIREMENT MY HAIR AND BEARD HAD TURNED GRAY AND I HAD GAINED ABOUT 25 LBS. AS I WAS SHOPPING IN THE VENDER TENTS, A YOUNG PUNK WEARING A MARINE SHIRT, CAME UP TO ME LAUGHING AND CALLING ME OUT ON MY PATCHES AND PINS, YELLING THAT AT MY AGE THERE IS NO WAY I WAS IN DESERT SHIELD/STORM, AND OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH. I KEPT MY COOL AND EXPLAINED MY UNIT , WHERE I WAS STATIONED DURING THE WAR(AL MINHAD, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES-WITH HILL AFB UTAH WORKING ON F16'S. HE KEPT UP HIS SHIT UNTIL MY FRIENDS ALSO GOT WIND OF HIS BIG MOUTH AND HE WAS PROMPTLY MADE TO APOLOGISE AND ESCORTED OUT OF THE AREA. THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS AS THE SEEM, OR HOW YOU MIGHT THINK!!!!!

Crayon eating, window licking ass wipe. The thought of slapping the taste out of his mouth warms my heart, but leaves me with a strong desire to force him to stand in front of a real formation, and tell him to prepare to defend himself! I would not piss on him if he were on fire

Only those that I have suspected as being posers (4 that I can think of over the past 48 years), and only in areas where it would not have been conducive, or constructive, to the setting we were in to call them on it.

That is sad. Sounds like stolen valor to me. The person that desires to show it externally has the internal desire to do it. However they lack the courage to execute it. The rest of us were never lacking in anything because we had the courage to execute a call to duty.
