So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

From a civilian here with plenty of military (Army and Navy) in the family, this shit only causes my blood pressure to rise. I was sitting at a bar with my cousin. He served in Afghanistan in 2004 (maybe it was 2005 cant remember now). Some guy walked up and started chatting. After about 2 minutes it became obvious he was looking for people to buy him drinks because he was a "vet." Yea he was telling us of all his stories in "Baghdad, Afghanistan." Yup. My cousin just at there and fucked with him for about 15 minutes. It all ended with the dumbass buying us a drink lol

Yeah worked with a guy that got a marine Corp tattoo, I asked where he served and he said Vietnam. He was a known draft dodger. Got his when he walked into a bar with real marines in it.

I believe everyone should serve in the military after High School. At least for 1 to 2 years. That would solve posers.

Yes, when I got home from Vietnam I was in St Albans Navy hospital in Jamaica LI and I finally got discharged I went back to my home town and I went out to a local bar one night and there was a guy sitting at the bar staring into his beer (We called it the 1000 yard stare) and he was decked out in the run of the mill poncho liner jacket with the map of Vietnam on the back and I asked him where he was at in Vietnam. He responded that he was on the DMZ so I asked where. He said Danang which if you were there you knew that Danang was about 50 miles south of the DMZ. When I told him that he got irate and left the bar. I've run into a few over the years that pretended to have been there. I've talked to quite a few that wished they had gone over. They wanted to kill the enemy. I tried to tell them that it wasn't that glamorous.
