So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Kyle Waxman on Facebook claimed to be a 2nd Lt. Hand to hand instructor (actually he claimed he taught Marines to kill people with their hands). And he went to recruit training at Paradise Island. This clown graduated high school a year behind me. He must have some deep seated self esteem issues to make this bs claim on memorial day no less.

Saw a sick idiot at O'Hare in 1970. Army uniform, Sgt stripes, and Major's insignia on the collar. I asked him if he was having an identity crisis. What the he'll did he think he was? He started yelling he was a Sergeant Major and wanted to know my unit to put me on report for being disrespectful. I ignored him and wandered over where I saw an Army M.P. I told him I had a gift for him and walked him over to the Sergeant Major.

The ex-wife's 5th husband was supposedly medically discharged before from the Navy before he could complete training to become a SEAL. Never earned the title or Trident, but has gone around wearing a boonie hat with Trident pinned to the center making himself appear to be something he's not. Also wears his Corrections Officer badge openly on his belt while off work in civilian clothes. Likes the attention of pretending to more than he really is I guess. Just shake my head and laugh.

So, while stationed in 4ID a Soldier had his "uncle" pose as a Major General to get him out of the field. It started as phone calls and emails asking the commander to let this Soldier off duty to help with a community event. Then it was the Soldier plus his buddy, just for Friday afternoon. At this point 1SG is calling BS but everyone is still on the fence about slamming these kids. The tipping point happened when both Soldiers were requested to drive the general to Kansas for the week. The CO said it was good, they just needed MG Snuffy to sign a memo. As i walked in for PT that morning I saw an old man, in ACUs, MG rank, standing next to a rusty Pontiac smoking a cigarette. As I approached he saluted me and said good morning LT. I about tripped over myself because it was such a strange/ surreal exchange. Needless to say, there is a lot wrong with this situation. I heard later that the DCG ran this guy off the post and the two Soldiers got moved out of the Company, not sure what else. I don't know if impersonating a GO is a punishable offense/ crime for a civilian but it probably should be. That whole situation was bananas and wasted a lot of time. How many GOs drive rusty pontiacs and smoke menthols? Just the ones your Soldiers make up.
