So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

I met my first poser 3 days ago, claimed to be disabled from Irag War, turned out to be 19 year old pizza delivery guy in truth. Was telling people he was an E-7 sniper.

Been there, frequently see posers near VA center, trying to pan handle real veterans.

In 2016 I was having a cold one in my favorite hangout, when this youngster comes in wearing a desert storm veteran cap. I asked him if he really served because he looked to young, he replied yes, so I continued asking more questions. When I asked him about his mos, what unit he was with and so on. His response was it was to long ago for him to remember, I informed him to remove that cap or I will remove it for him, I was told to leave the bar cause I was starting trouble.not my hangout anymore.

If the person is posing don't humiliate him/her. Instead give them a pep talk. At least find out the reason before putting the person on blast. I've seen some poser and some who aren't. All in all, wearing a uniform that you never trained in is grounds for questioning but first ask, 'do you support the troops'. If the person is using the uniform as a leverage to get money then reason with him/her. Better, to tell the person to get a job and earn it the right way. Spending a whole day faking and not getting that much is a waste of energy. Since some areas now have 15.50 pay at minimum wage. Minimum wage in Guam is about 7.50 and going up on a slow rate. So tell the person to appreciate the fact that a minimum age of that much of money can get you a comfy life rather than sweating in the sun/cold just for meager change.

Never seen one that I know of. I usually don't waste my time stressing about it.

My issue is more with people who were actually in the military, but lie about what they did. I no longer "look" like a Marine so I just let people talk. It seems like every former military person was Force Recon, Green Beret, or 75th. Let them talk and find out they are full of crap. I then drop the hammer and let them know I was a Marine and watch them squirm. I don't get the lying...civilians don't care about what you did.
