So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Several over the last couple of years. It seems the further away from a military installation the more I run into them.

I've worked very hard to get where I am. I've done Active Army and Navy. I'm now Army Reserve and still fighting to make my place. The schools I have achieved are because I busted my butt! I get questioned a lot over my pins because I'm a woman. I often wonder about these people that are full of it!!!??? All I can do is laugh...

I don't worry about wantabe's, Each and every veteran knows that they served our great nation. We didn't do it for thanks, glory, medals, ribbons, but because we believe in our nation. I served, and actually feel awkward when people say thank you for your service. We don't have to worry because we know what the words Duty, Honor, Service, and Brotherhood mean. They don't and never will.

A few months ago at the local butcher shop. A loud mouth civilian, claimed to be a retired O-6, who killed a North Korean in the DMZ in the '50s. Had to get out of country ASAP - sent to language school to learn Cambodian then Viet Nam. Didn't know what Branch he was in, but he was a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne. When I asked to see his retired ID he claimed he let it home.

I came from a military family . Grandfather American div. Dad 30 + years service . Brother EOD .. I tried to join in 1998 . Turned down by Surgeon General at last min. for a medical waver As a kid I did wear my dads patches on my coat ...ect. As an adult I find this behavior to be of the utmost disgrace and utterly stupid! If I see someone doing this I will call them on it and kick their ass if need be!

No, but I've heard many, most recently some expats in Nicaragua, speak about their military experiences and can tell after a few minutes they are truly fake.

Had one try to convince me he was a Cobra gunner in the Marines in Vietnam. All I did was ask him how old he was. Turns out he was 6 years younger than me I joined in 1975, the cut off for Vietnam was May of that year. I was born in 1955, joined at 19, that made him 13 at the time, told him do the math. Never saw him again
