So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

I'm a civilian with a Army Captain Grandfather WWII Army Air Corps. I worked at a club and this guy came in and it was Vets night. So many many Vets getting free drinks. I'm sitting there with my shot tray with my regular who wears his dog-tags and you can tell by his stance that he is/was military. Especially if you have family that is/was military. Now I've tried to enlist myself but have medical that doesn't allow me so I'm very active in the community. This guy walks in and starts yelling for service that he just retired from the military. Now here is the kicker one of our Vets that was in that night recognized him from boot camp so he comes over to my friend and they have a little conversation about what I'm not sure. But as I was not a dancer it was my job to get his order and what not. New guys is still yelling for service and boasting about something I forgot, I go and ask him for his drink and tags as proof even have a sign that says please provide proof of Service right at the door on those nights. He starts getting belligerent and says his word should be enough. I'm sorry but we have people that try to crash these nights all the time. Out of the corner of my eye I saw my regular getting slowly irritated, he is retired USMC. So while trying to get this guy to give me proper Identification, remember this is Vets night not Active night and yes we had active service men there that night that the Vets usually pay for. I just need proof of his service's to our country. The guy gets pissed grabs my arm and starts dragging me to the lap dance room saying I owed him a free dance because I disrespected him. My regular came up broke the hold he had on me spun him around and jacked him in the face before my bar back could step out from behind the bar. Now remember he was in boot camp! Police showed up went through his wallet and found out he got kicked out of boot camp after one day because he refused to do the work. Best part is if he had just shown me his ID and said that he was medically discharged I wouldn't have known and the guy that recognized him wouldn't of ratted him out. I go to the bars a lot and sit and listen to the Vets. They love that I'm willing to just sit there and ask real questions that don't go beyond what they are comfortable talking about which is normally their service. Now I'm not Military myself but my grandpa was and many friends and family who are. So to everyone on this blog thankyou for your service. BTW I had to jump on my regular straight body wrapped around his to get him to stop. And I'm a tiny 5'0" woman he could of easily ripped off. Wrapped my arms around his torso and legs around his waist and told him dude wasn't worth it. He was ready to tear kid apart. Granted the guy was boasting about how he was in Desert Storm when he had to have been maybe 25 at the time. Wasn't the first time he did this either just the first time at that club. No longer work there and I miss my buddy. Good man. But that is my run in with "Stolen Valor"

It's so unbelievable that someone would actually impersonate someone who served in our Armed Forces. They really have to have some mental issues and identity problems. But I still cannot forgive them for doing something like this. It's so dishonorable for the men and women who have been in our Armed Forces and especially ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
I believe there's a special place in hell for people like this!

We had a guy that wore a navy uniform to apply for a job. My superintendent hired him and when I got a chance to speak with him he claimed to be a retired (from battle wounds) WO-3. Not only that but a member of seal team four! He then claimed that he could hook us up with government work and to prove it he went to San Diego and stayed on base in officers quarters for two weeks! (And got away with it)He then coned my brother into loaning him ten grand until he rolled over one of his CDs. Of course he disappeared with the money only to get picked up by the FBI at the airport. We found out he had done this many times and even got married to a woman claiming he was a retired seal & and coned a Microsoft millionaire out of his fortune . when it all came to light found out he was a cook in the army that was tossed out for drug use and spent years in prison for his scams. His name is Jim Rowe. He may be out and if he is I am sure he is sporting that Navy uniform somewhere!

Lol e-7 petty officer. That's the funniest thing I have ever heard. That rating is never referred to as e-7 never.

You'd think that they would have at least gone to the library and done a little research! Another waste of good air space!
