So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Ive met one, but as Pastor of the church, I held me tongue and asked a deacon who is retired USAF to deal with the situation. But he made the claim while standing in front of the congregation, asking to join. I wanted to publicly out him, but that wasnt the time or place.

I am a female Dessert Storm Veteran, (Army) I wear my t-shirts, hats and what pisses me off is when I go up to a veteran wearing the garb and thank them for their service, shake their hands, and strike up a conversation and that's when you know they are full of shit, and then they know you know, especially if you ask about a DD 214, and get away fast.

Just because there is an act that uses the words "stolen valor " to make it illegal doesn't mean that the words separately aren't to be used as they are intended...look up stolen by definition and then look up valor. At the end of the day it meant something to him...he believes that having medals for these things will give him some sense of importance, that's why he did it. You wantbto talj about being butt hurt to men and women who this matters to but obviously you are butt hurt as well to go out of your way to post something which makes people believe you think it's ok to lie about what you are or what you do.
I don't wanna talk to someone who claims to have gone thru my hardships only to find out they haven't truly gone thru it. Getting money or sympathy or cookies for lies isn't cool.
At the end of the day...i just go home and say, "wow, pathetic, and a waste of my time!" I have the right to feel that way too. I just don't go around this world saying fuck you on people's social media boards if there's no need. There wasn't a need. He's not a part of that brotherhood and won't ever be. Both sides on this coukd just say how they feel privately.

Daughter of a decorated war veteran who was drafted and lived to tell his story. Ex wife of a veteran. Mother of 2 of 3 sons in the army...one who is coming home decorated. I served my time to the USMC. Just makes me who I am.

Most men who earned their medals did so out of sheer survival and to protect their brothers. It's not just war that creates these tight bonds. They are survivors they can get butt hurt don't let it bother you.

Ran into a Facebook page on these jokers maybe a year ago or less. I don't support their direction, but I support their right to legally pursue their thought. That being said though... no: screw anyone who thinks that it's cool to run around pretending to be military, especially if it's for their own profit. I don't care about wannabes (though I don't think highly of them either), but posers are scum.

Cmon people..Let's be honest..MOST posers do not do this because they are trying to "honor: anyone. That is the exception to the rule. Most of them do this because they want unearned kudos from people, or get free meals on Veteran's day. I know....I have seen many do this over the years.
