So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

It is interesting that this came to me today. I just posted on FB about a guy who for some reason came up to me talking about his time in the military. I asked him was he in the Army and his answer was, "not really". Ok, either you are or you are not, I did not want to go any further but he insisted. I got the story of him starting off in Saigon at 18 flying in helicopters gunning down women and children. It was ok, because he was working black ops.

I quietly left the AO. It became obvious he was a round or two short. I overlook the crazy ones, they do not know better and it accomplishes nothing calling them out because in their mind it is all true. I do have a problem with the ones who put on an uniform to get free meals or to make themselves look cool or to make themselves feel like someone. I even had a disdain for those who served but tell people they were Seals, Special Ops or some secret unit freeing the world of tyrants.

If you were a supply clerk and you did your job, then you served with honor and nothing more needs to be said. The military needs supply clerks and cooks, ect ect. I do not say that in a negative light, logistics is what the pros talk about.

If they are nuts just leave them alone, if they are trying to profit then shame on them and call them out and if you did serve honorably know you did what you were asked to do, do not pretend to be the facebook Ranger.

I personally have not. But agree it is a shame to pose. I DO get people who tell me what they "would have done" if in the service...except I was involuntarily at the end of the Vietnam War, wasn't drafted, 352 line number, but I went in any way! Served faithfully for 2 years and a wake up, RARELY put on a uniform but will if asked to be part of an Honor Guard for ceremonies.

Saw one once at my local convenience store. Patches and insignia were not correct. Guy had a ponytail. I asked him where he served. He told me Alaska National Guard. LOL.
