So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

No, and I'm just as glad. I really don't know how I'd respond. I'm too old to go to jail.

People who do that are a couple of bricks shy of a load. You know they just ain't all there.
Some of them are just making fools for themselves. Why get angry at a wanna be.

I have not seen posers in civilian life but a very young E8 showed up at Fort Bragg in 1970. The CSM began questioning him, found out he was a clerk in Vietnam and wrote his own promotion orders and award citations. Not saying how the CSM questioned him but I think it took place at the 82nd Jump Club, or maybe behind it? He didn't look too well the next day.

The picture above reminds me of those picture puzzles in dentist office, where you have to ID everything wrong.

When I was teaching ROTC at Penn State in the 80's we visited high school ROTC classes at schools in the area. We were skeptical of one Major who didn't seem to know much wearing a Majors uniform. After doing some checking found him to be an imposter. Got him fired.
