So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

I have not seen posers in civilian life but a very young E8 showed up at Fort Bragg in 1970. The CSM began questioning him, found out he was a clerk in Vietnam and wrote his own promotion orders and award citations. Not saying how the CSM questioned him but I think it took place at the 82nd Jump Club, or maybe behind it? He didn't look too well the next day.

yes i have but i just ask them their story then I set them straight about the people that really have served this country. About the family members I have that have worn the uniforms of the Army, the Navy, and the Marines

When I was teaching ROTC at Penn State in the 80's we visited high school ROTC classes at schools in the area. We were skeptical of one Major who didn't seem to know much wearing a Majors uniform. After doing some checking found him to be an imposter. Got him fired.
