So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Which is worse, a civilian wearing a uniform or a vet claiming rank or medals that weren't earned? Knew a recruiter, E-7, that had a green beret on the wall in his office and when asked would say that he went thru SF training. Not true. Met a clerk at Ft. Riley that doctored his 201 file while in VN to show that he had earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a company clerk in VN. If people are giving speeches about their war time service and they didn't serve, I have a problem with that. If they are getting veteran's discounts and didn't serve, I have a problem with that, but if they were a uniform and let you think they served, I don't have a problem with that. I DO have a problem with military personnel enhancing their service file.

Met a cousin-in-law last month who said he was in Nam 70-71. Said he went to Ft. Poke for Basic, Ft Benning for AIT and then back to Ft Poke for NCO academy. He then had a 10 day leave and shipped out to Nam as a E-5 Buck Sgt. I said , O' you were a Shake and Bake. He had never heard the term. I told him I was in Soc Trang, in the Delta. Said he had heard of Soc Trang, up on the north border.
It was as far south as you could get. When we left I told my wife he was a fake.

This shit disgusts me to the very inner core! I have ran across a homeless guy wearing acu's with no insignia napetapes etc. I asked him when and where he served where he responded with some bullshit. I immediately made him take off the uniform pants and all. He was left in his skibbies under a bridge with no more uniform.

You took a homeless guys clothes? You should be real proud. Anyone can walk in and buy clothes at an Army Surplus store, doesn't mean he's guilty of stolen valor. People like you are an embarrassment.

You obviously don't know the details of what was discussed between the both of us. I made an assessment which pointed to this individual homeless or not wearing the uniform as an edge for gaining money. Ill put you in your place if needed too. Don't just assume you know what's goin on by a few sentences. I won't stand for someone doing such things. Quit being soft and passing judgement on someone you know nothing about.

Re: the above photo. Can always tell a poser because they cannot seem to dress a beret properly. Also can't be bothered to learn how to correctly display medals and devises.
