So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

None so far, but where I live, the population is relatively small, and mostly honest. I gotta admit, I'm not sure if I could recognize one. The military has changed a lot since I was active service, first Naval Reserve in '78, USAF '80. I'm ignorant of USMC and USA designations...

Not around here .There are to many real service men and women around here to try to pull that crap. They would be called out in a hurry. My son is on deployment now

I have not yet seen one so I am not sure how I would respond to such an individual. Would definitely make me angry! Since the Korean conflict my family has become, generation by generation, men and women alike, a career military family. If someone wants to wear the uniform of any of our services - raise his/her right hand and find out just what that oath means!

Met two morons in UT.
First one was before I enlisted. I had actually just gotten out of all the recruiters offices and was waiting to catch a bus home. Then I saw this dude with air force trousers on and thought maybe I should talk with him. He then claimed to be a Marine Scout sniper..... now I was a missionary in UT and actually met a man who was force recon as well as a scout sniper and many other people in various branches ranging from the aforementioned Recon Marine, all the way to Air Force PJs and grew up in a military family so knew this guy was suspicious. The prick then proceeded to say he made 30000 yard shots and many other impossible feets. Promptly busted and embarrassed him in front of a bunch of people there and he walked away pissed off.

Other one was after boot and I was home. Dude was on the bus, notice a trend?, and I saw he had the De oppreso libre patch for Army SF. Curious I asked him about it and he proceeded to tell me he was a cook assigned to an SF unit.....doubting this I left him alone and found out he was getting off at my stop and lo and behold who would be there other than my friend I taught a year before who was 82nd Airborne....needless to say what happened next was simply beautiful

If its something blatant like that yeah but the guy on blast, but people are getting so aggressive with "stolen valor" that old timers who actually served honorably are getting put on blast because SOP/s and customs change over time

Anyone who claims military service without having actually served needs to be bussed to the nearest MEPS! Let the drill sergeants, drill instructors, petty officers take care of them!
