So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

3 submarines, 1 CLG, NUC school, and several other NAVY schools, 1966-1978 active duty, got out joined Naval Reserve's cross rated to MN, retired in 1994 as a Senior Chief. There are some folks at our VFW post that would love to "chat" with him!

Just remembered another poser. No uniform, business casual. But had his whole business convinced he had been a SEAL. He had planted mines on ships in Haiphong harbor. That wasn't what set me to asking. It was when they told me "everyone else was killed, highly classified, no records due to black ops". AND he walked from Haiphong across North Vietnam and into South Vietnam where he turned himself in to the American embassy because he was so high up....

I tried to confront him, but my boss talked me down.

PS. Best poser story I know of.

Was going to Hines VA hospital for nothing major. Homeless guy has sign help a vet. US Army. I asked where he was stationed and he kind of jumped back looked at me and said Pendleton. I said that's funny it's a Marine base. He turned and walked away. He wasn't there when I came back. If he was I'm not sure my PTSD wouldn't have caused him some problems.

It certainly shows a lack of character. A blood sucking politician posing as a servant of the people is as low scum maybe worse. There is as much stolen valor among service people exaggerating war stories or out right lying is probably more prevalent that an idiot that don't know how to wear a uniform is.

I would of told him to take that uniform off, he has no right to wear my uniform, and made it well known to everyone within ear shot that he was a FAKE!!

I respect our military forces and veterans most of all I always thank them for their service, and stolen valor should be a crime but at the same time their is better ways to deal with these individuals than being a retard
