So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

The best I ever heard was a guy telling me what a straight face that he was secretly in submarines in the Mekong River

Some of you get way to worked up about this stuff. Seriously just live life. It is to short to worry about the next man. What gets me more than civilians doing this is the unprofessional approach most people take to dealing with it. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. I actually get bothered more by actual vets who talk about their days in Iraq and Afghanistan like it was a call of duty video game and then you find out they were an 88M or 42A. We all have our roles sure but don't go talking about your super hard tours in the killing fields when you never left the fucking FOB.

It looks like he has a major rank on his hat. The flash looks like 5th group. Which does not have the yellow and red anymore, and wearing a crest of Special Forces. Which I wore and earn the Special Forces Tab.

Saw a guy at Home Depot park in the Wounded Warriors reserved spot. Asked where he'd seen duty. Couldn't have been more than 40. Said NAM. I asked where and how he got wounded. He told me, the DMZ. Got wounded on a PBR. I asked Kwa Viet? He said , sure was. I asked what service. Army, he said. I asked, on a PBR on the Kwa Viet River? Yes, he answered. I just looked him in the eye and said, " enjoy the parking spot, liar." He got in his truck and left.

I ran into one just this morning. He had a veteran purple heart license plate. He looked young, but we're fighting now, so it was plausible. I asked if he was the veteran. He said yes. So I asked him if he got hit. He said no, the purple heart license plate was to get chicks! I don't know how hard these plates are to get, I'm guessing it's his dad's car.
