So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Be careful, some do it just to "punk" others with no ill intent. Some are truly mentally ...challenged or truly desired to be in: and could not.

Sometimes people who did serve will pose to sorts. Maybe they had a boring job or embarrassed of their rate or mos. They tried to do something else but their scores were too low. I see more of these guys than posers andI know they served honorably at one point or the other. Doesn't matter, they served so I buy them a beer anyway and since I'm a retired sailor, I enjoy a good spin of the yarn.

Dude is trying to pose - not simply wearing military garb. He's trying to fake the funk. I'd ask him all about his service while filming then YouTube it.

If he was wearing everything mentioned and said that he was Navy, I would have wished him luck and walked off because he was seriously mentally challenged.

At a hangout that I frequent I was introduced to a person that seemed like he was OK. After he was told that I am a Marine and a Vietnam vet he pulls me aside and starts telling me his stories while he was a Navy Seal. I was amazed that he had been so many places and done so many things. The following week I mentioned to my buddies about the stories he had told me. Turns out he went to high school with half of them and had never been in any branch of the military much less a Seal. At my next encounter I explained to him that his lying was doing a disservice to the honor of those of us who actually wore a uniform. He insisted he was not lying. I told him next week I will bring a copy of my DD 214 and I suggest you bring a copy of yours. His response "What the hell is a DD 214?"

He'll yes I have. I have had one go so far as to question my service, when I have all of my paperwork, and my card from the VA. The assignment went to far as to steal his brother's identity, to get free Healthcare, and benefits he didn't deserve. He is right now, living in FT Riley, KS., and trying to pull the scam he did here, when he never served.

I once saw a guy wearing E5 sergeants stripes and gold oak leaf clusters telling people he was a sergeant major...too pitiful to get mad about.
