So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

I hate this kind of crap. I was a Viet Man Era Marine. I served in an aviation support squadron and never served in theater, so I would never claim to

I have not see any positive ones. I've seen a few that made me wonder about their truthfulness.

Yes. Feller ran up to me after seeing my Purple Heart license plate, and after introductions, and my saying what unit I was in in Nam, he said that he was my replacement and they hit a lot of shit while he was there. My unit (3rd Battalion 9th Marines left Vietnam when I did. I was so shocked I didn't even hit him. Wish I had, though.

Regularly at the homeless shelters that I have lived at and volunteered at. I give them demeaning nicknames and call them out. They are easy to spot for any real veteran. My favorite nickname for them is stolen glory. Because they want the glory they associate with being a veteran. They don't get the joke and on even takes it as a complement, like he's my buddy because I gave him a nickname. They don't know or understand what valor is. Its a concept they can't grasp, Its the glory that they want. For veterans its the credit for our valor that they are stealing. Our willingness to sacrifice, our courage to risk our lives. For them its just about the glory, which frankly most of us don't see at all.

I saw a guy in military fatigues with a sign at a street corner asking for money. I got out of my car to offer to direct him to a VA friend who helps homeless veterans and then this scum admits he is not a veteran but is only raising money for some supposedly local group that helps veterans. Yeah, right.
