So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

That is very disrespectful for all of us soldiers ... we put our lives out on the line day in and day out. There's no words to say the level of disrespectfulness that this guy did. I love my brothers and sisters in all branches. I respect everyone of us there is. I would have straight dropped him for that. If you really wanna be a soldier go enlist and go through what we have/are.. don't be a poser.. stupid a** people I swear.

I knew a guy who as an E3 had two racks. One was to impress his GF, the other was legit. He'd go home from a weekend drill and tell his GF he'd been flown to Iraq for a special mission, jumping out of planes blah blah blah. I was an E3 as well at the time and thought it was some funny shit. I also questioned the IQ of his GF, a box of rocks sounded about right.

Yes and the idiot above does not even know how to wear the US and branch. It looks like the same junk you see on TV where they dress an actor up and have no idea how the uniform is to be worn.

Oh hell yes, one in particular is a fat assed slob purporting to be a former special forces Sgt. I had heard about him from those he has fooled for years. all civilians, so they can be forgiven. I was introduced to him at a writers/poetry gathering. As soon as I asked the first question his ignorance of all thi9ngs military became apparent. So for shits and giggles just to amuse myself I led him on as if he had me fooled. If anything can be said about his tale telling all I can attribute to him is originality. he went from being a cook, in a spec ops unit, I had him telling me he was in the top secret thirteenth spec ops group. So secret it is never talked about, I pressed him on his tours of duty, as in deployments. He said he was in central America wearing civvies but he used the old cliché, that if he told me doing what, he'd have to kill me. I told him I was on that (Non happening) mission too but I didn't recall him being there. His reply was a knee slapper for me, he said he was the chopper pilot on the mission. Were I not called away to recite a poem I would have spent the rest of the night amusing myself letting him dig his own grave. At the conclusion of the event I took him off to the side in the freezing cold and advised him strongly to knock off the BS and identified myself by showing my grey retirement card. He slinked away with his fat assed wife and never looked back. He has not attended any of the events I'm at since.

In Arizona on the I-40 at exit 9 I see a lot of posers holding signs stating "homeless Veteran God bless". When I pull over towards them they notice my DOD sticker MCAS Yuma, AZ and start to leave! It's sad that it comes to civilians wanting to be us so bad! FYI the DOD no longer issues stickers to Active/Retired Military Personnel! Just show your AFID to the Military Police at the Base! Semper Fidelis and esprit de corps!
