So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

What a piece of s*** my father served in the military my grandfather served in the military my whole family served in the military I unfortunately didn't serve although I did score very high on my ASVAP I respect her service men and women and I think you guys from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done to give me the freedoms that I have today. It's people like this they give our country a bad name my father fought in Vietnam he was in the legendary 82nd infantry "Screaming Eagles" Airborne division.. and if you still alive today and if he met this guy face-to-face he would probably rip his arms off and beat him to death with him

Where did the photograph come from? There are SO MANY things wrong with that uniform that no veteran would have been fooled. What kind of flash is on his beret? then again look at where the rank is placed. Medals are never worn on the uniform unless they are miniatures that can be worn on the dress blue uniform. The post states that this individual claimed to be an E-7 Petty officer in the Navy, so why is he wearing an old dress green Army Uniform with major rank on his headgear and shoulder boards? Then again, what is that patch that is located on the right breast of the jacket? That is a civilian patch that probably came from a surplus store or flea-market. it is not military.

I seem to run into posers frequently, why do they always claim to be Ranger or SF qualified. When I ask simple questions about the MOS/ CMF or where did they get their training I get the deer in the headlight look or they will state that it is classified. You can find them in every bar trying to impress a bar fly or at any restaurant who is offering a military discount. They are easy to spot, just listen to the person who is always speaking the loudest about their stellar military service and their amazing wartime heroics. Everyone of these people try to pass themselves off as Rambo. Its disgusting because I have seem employers fall for it.

This so sad for want a be to dress up and disgrace the uniform by not problie putting medals and awards. They should be put in the military to teach them respect for those who have served. I want to salute all my brothers and sisters who and thank you.

They are EVERYWHERE! Some even hang out at the local VAMC! The ones that amaze me the most are the ones who claim to be VietNam era Vets, yet appear to have been born AFTER the end of that War! Also the mish-mash of uniform items is truly inventive. They say "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" but this absolutely does NOT apply to those who pose as military Veterans.
