So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

Geez... This individual doesnt seem to know the difference between the services. On a nit picky level, an E7 in the Navy is NOT A PETTY OFFICER!!!! I got screamed at every time in boot camp when I answered my Chief (E7) with "Yes Petty Officer". They are CHIEFS and should always be addressed as such. Then you have the basic stuff. Like a Marine Corps globe and anchor in and Army uniform claiming to be Navy. all he is missing is something related to the Air Force.

Everything is wrong about this guy and you can easily find those errors in his uniform.

While a Veterans Employment specialist in California I met loads that would claim to be a veteran so they could get special treatment. Even had an actual Vietnam era vet have her boy friend claim he was a Vietnam veteran so he could get preference.

I have not, but that photo does not appear to be of a psychologically healthy person. I believe they should receive genuine, sincere help.

Yes I did he asked me for directions to a motorcycle memorial in a nearby town. Had I looked him over I would have spotted the inconsistencies in his uniform but this Sergeant Major used ambush tactics and frankly caught me off guard. After he left I noticed a few things and others did too. They silently took him aside and told him he was a faker and he left as quietly as he arrived.

Yes and when confronted he ran off like a lil puppy. On another note..one of our Spec 5 bros just got the Medal of Honor. Congrats to him and thanks for his service.

Here's a good one for you all. In 1989 I was stationed at Ft Kobbe, Panama with the 1/508th Airborne on the 17th of Dec we were locked down preparing for Just Cause and this new SP4 showed up to our Co., stout young man with basic wings, CIB, 82nd combat patch and official (looked real from what I was told afterwards) orders assigning him to our Co. The SP4 was assigned to a PLT issued wpn, gear...and deployed with us! After the initial assault and a couple of days later, the guy disappeared. The word spread quickly throughout the Co. that during a refit he was called to the 1SG's location and escorted away by the MP's. Now here's the kicker, he was a civilian contractors dependent son in who was in high school and decided he wanted to play army using his big brothers gear and background. How he obtained official looking orders and slipped through I have no idea but he used Grenada as his background and during a time of prep and making sure we were at 110% man power he pulled it off. If this young man had been wounded or KIA Stolen Valor would have been the least of his problems.

Discounting the person in bits and peices of uniforms from the Surplus stores, only one. He was easy to spot on my way home on leave during AIT, brass MSG rank on BDUs.

Crap I hit the wrong button and it posted before I was done!!! Anyways. This guy had his truck all decked out with Service stickers, I noticed the Vietnam Service Ribbon decal and a Sniper Ribbon, an Army decal and assorted other decals... I even asked him, "So you were a Sniper huh?? He confirmed it and said that he really doesn't talk about it and he's trying to forget it ... The Nightmares still haunt him....I said Damn dude ( I knew him and knew that he Never Served a day in his life!! So I asked if he had to go right home that I'd like to buy him a beer and meet a couple of my friends, I said that they would probably buy him a couple of beers too!!! So, I took him to the VFW Post 2661 that I belong too and I introduced him to some Real Vietnam Veterans!!! I told them that they needed to go see his truck that he had a cool Service Ribbon decal that they would like and a Sniper too!! I said yeah he was in 'Nam like ya!! Well they talked to him a hew minutes an I went to use the head. When I came out the guys were all gone as was Robert?? When I got outside I saw Robert on the ground getting up and then using a screwdriver he started scraping off all the Military decals on his truck!!! I laughed my butt of as I headed to my car and waved by to my Brothers. I've Never seen Robert since that day!!!
