Pretty self explanitory, Has anyone here used the VA to buy a home? If so, was it a pain and is it worth it?

Yes It was pretty straight forward. Try Veterans United.

Try shopping around and you could get a much better rate with no lender fees. Lots of resources out there, the two I recommend are VETTEDVA facebook group and http://findamortgagebroker.com

I bought my home in 2015 using VA. No money down good people working the issue pretty painless for me. My only complaint was the I was in the disability filing phase and had to pay the 5000.00 VA filing fee. I just refinance using VA we just closed again last week dropped interest rates, now that I am VA rating I am exempt from filing VA funding fee ever again.

Can a VA loan be used to buy a home in a foreign country; i.e. Thailand. I’m married to a Thai that’s why I ask.

I used my VA loan benefit thrice. In my limited experience Lenders that offer VA loans, are well versed and make the process painless as can be expected in the mortgage loan world that is!
