It is so worth it - I have now had 3 homes using VA funding - $0 down and cash at closing too!!!

Took over 10 months to get and had to apply and reapply (and pay appraisal fees) FOUR times on FOUR different properties before it finally went through because the amount of the home loan was more than VA would pay. The lower interst rate is good, but the time and hoops you have to jump through are endless. Had to give away a previous property in order to finally get a loan. Had to pay off ALL debts to qualify, including contested debts. Bought my home in 2015.

So far I have used the VA home loan benefit 2 times and each time it was easier than any other way to finance a home.

I used veterans United for my va loan. They have a network of realtors and are a breeze to get the loan through. If you use a realtor in their network, you get money back after closing.

Veterans United is generally overpriced because they pad their margins and pay for national level advertising, so most vets think they are dealing with a Veteran centric organization. They also charge lender fees. A good mortgage broker charges no lender fees (no origination, underwriting, points, doc prep etc) and will beat their rates by a considerable margin. VETTEDVA Facebook page is a veteran run community run by vet broker where you can get no BS advice and direction.

Thanks for the info. I just streamlined through them for my refi. I dealt with two other mortgage brokers and they were shams. They would ask for unnecessary paperwork. Making me write out sworn statements for every debt I had. Numerous copies of bank statements for each bill etc. They drug their heels into the dirt worse than a soldier on remedial pt. When I found veterans united they were upfront and I didnt have to chase them to get updates.

I meant to say that I have now used them twice. For the original loan and for the refi.
