Pretty self explanitory, Has anyone here used the VA to buy a home? If so, was it a pain and is it worth it?

I don't even know where to start? I have Certificate, but have no idea who to talk to , how to get started to use it and are there specialists (Realtors) out there that can walk me through the process?

I have used a VA loan for purchasing and refinancing. I have never had a problem. My husband has used his as well. And our son has used his. If you have it, use it. It is zero down. Everything is rolled in to the mortgage.

Used Veterans United. Nearly pain free. Most difficult was emailing docs to lender from McDonalds. Our rented condo did not have internet

Wow! Was this really posted 5yrs ago? Probably won't do much good to ask but here I am so may as well... Is there any VA Loan program that helps with getting like a HELOC or some other Home Improvement Loan? I mean, I own my home free and clear but stuff like my deck about to fall away from the house, and it's a very large deck, that I will have to close off and stop using soon needs rebuilt. I'd love to have more than single pane windows that actually open and new siding would be great. I got 2 estimates last year and went to the bank and was declined. It's not like I can't afford payments but with my credit being less than optimal and my neighborhood has lower property values they just said no. I don't need or want to move, I would just like to be able to fix that deck. The 3 items listed would greatly improve the value of my home, but I've been unable to find any Vets Program to help with anything other than buying or refinancing. Any of you guys have any options?
