Pretty self explanitory, Has anyone here used the VA to buy a home? If so, was it a pain and is it worth it?

It was very frustrating for me. I may end up in foreclosure.

I have used the VA homeloan program yes..it was quite simple really but I want to take advantage of a refi to help with a HELOC so I can improve our home it seems to be harder than anything else...even for a brand new home..ADVISE ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT ALL

Very simple process, small out-of-pocket expenses, which gets returned at closing time. I highly recommend VA Loans. Especially now with low rates.

I got pre qualified, but I encountered problems with needing $2,000 for earnest money AND $500 for an inspection!

I was also FALSELY told that I need a 640 credit score in order to get a VA home loan.

No, but I did have a "government-assisted" home loan through my Credit Union. The Government agency decided to take control of my mortgage. The agency lost my payments, threatened to take my home. At this point, I had to take the money to the far-away offices and make payments in person. Still, there were rude people in the Offices and they refused to give me receipts for my payment. I had my CU buy back my loan as a regular mortgage(no Government Agency involved). Now I have an excellent credit rating and almost have my home paid off. I still have problems with keeping my house up...As I have been ripped off with Roofing, Plumbing, and electrical maintenance/repairs. I would like to buy a better house...But with markets, politics, HOAs, IDK.
