SPC Chappell, I'm in the same boat as you. Reclassing to 14E with a class date of 3 March. I'm married and currently living at Fort Sill so I'm wondering if I'll be forced on Meal Card. From what I've been told basically I'll report to pt/classes/formations but get to go home every night. I'd imagine its the same for others that are at the reclass barracks.

IS there anything to actually do during off time there at Sill? I have heard from people at my unit (they do happen to have a little bit of salty attitudes though) that Lawton is basically a dumping grounds of white trash. I want to enjoy my time there and find some nature type of stuff to do besides just hitting the gym and doing homework all of the time. Good luck on your recalls man and keep in touch on here, maybe we can link up when I get there. Always nice to have some friends when you get to a new place!

Its not exactly easy to up sell Fort Sill. It is what it is. Its not all bad though just depends what you are into. There is medicine park that has a wildlife refuge and plenty of hiking trails. They also hold occasionally fests there with live bands food and drinks. Theres a mall, imax movie theater, and plenty of pretty good places to go eat. You are also just an hour or so from witchita falls tx and oklahoma city. There is plenty to do up there. Im on week 4 of 14e transition so if you got any questions feel free to hit me up. Im not sure how to send direct messages on here or I'd shoot you my number.

How are MOS-T's treated at Fort Sill during AIT? What privileges will I be afforded from the start?

For 13F our reclasses were allowed to go out each night and do everything you could in the real army. They just had restricted contact with the IET soldiers

MOS-T? So, you are doing an MOS reclass? If that's the case, while I can't speak of FT Sill, I can say that all Soldiers classified as Prior Service and attending an MOS reclass will be treated according to the SOP of the Training Company you become a part of.

Appreciate the response! That's what I am trying to figure out, the sop for 14h ait. I remember the how the MOS-t's had pretty much a normal day besides going to the schoolhouse with us when I went to ait at ft lee back in 2013. I just want to be prepared for either a somewhat normal day to day life while there or get ready for the TRADOC way of life all over again, being treated like a IET all over again. Thank you for taking the time to reply!

SPC (Join to see) - Well, here are some words of advice I can give you for having reclassed twice:

1) Yes, you will fall under TRADOC rules. Which means, that unless they have laxed up a bit, all TRADOC students (regardless of rank) are not authorized to consume alcohol. Also, the only interaction you will be directed to have is during POI time only. Even if you see an IET Soldier commit a infraction, you will not be authorized to correct them. You will be directed to find Cadre and report the infraction.
2) You may or may not be housed up in the same barracks as them. Which would dictate how you are regarded by the Cadre.

I say this because both times I reclassed is this:

When I reclassed to Combat Engineer, I was housed in the same barracks as the IETs, but down the hall away from them. When I reclassed to Preventive Medicine, I was housed in completely different barracks.

Both times, I was required to conduct PT and training with them, but that was it. Everything else was hands off.

If possible, contact the MOS school house you will be going to and ask these questions. They may very well provide the answers to you so you will know what to better expect when you get there.
