Go to your nearest friendly Army recruiter and inquire regarding your question; and 11X contract.

How can a recently separated Navy PO3 get back into the military to be an Army 18D? What should be my first step?

Go see an army recruiter and tell them you want an 18X packet. That should start the ball rolling. Remember that if you qualify for the SF 18X program , and it’s what you want to do accept nothing less.

To further elaborate on this point. A recruiter is a under paid liar. In fact, they lie for a living and most have no honor. If it is 18X you want, accept nothing less than 18X. And for those of you about to H8 on me, I was a recruiter for 4 years. It prepares one for a post military career as a televangelist, used car salesmen, or pimp.

Ask a recruiter. If they still take prior service on the 18 X-ray program you can.

Join as an 18x and go for it. Also be smart and not a quitter.

Former PO3 here... I just got an 11x contract. From my understanding of prior service rules. You can’t get ranger or special forces in your contract. Needs of the army for what jobs you can pick. Best route is any combat type MOS, and push for airborne school in your contract. Then later you can try out for ranger or SF

Thanks for the help. I'll just shoot my luck and see what I can figure out with a recruiter.
