I hope you guys can give help me out. I am stationed at fort drum with ETS date of January and I just got projection for Ft Bliss with a report date of February next year. I want to ets. I went to my retention to try to get it cancelled but she told me to signed a dec statement because I plan maybe coming back as an officer in the reserves. How can I get this projection cancelled or can I just reenlist for stabilization or change MOS...? I don't want to go to bliss. please help ?

Unfortunately the assignment won’t get deleted. The only two choices you have is re-enlisting to take the assignment or signing a dec. IG won’t be able to assist because there isn’t any wrong doing in your situation. ETSing does not prevent you from receiving assignment instructions. So the information/options retention provided is correct.... Good luck to you....

But my ets is in tandem with my contract or terms of reenlistment ..that is like a stop loss... I was advised to take a pt test asap and fail and just get out..i have one next week

Your ETS and the PCS have nothing to do with one another. The PCS orders are there in case you change your mind about ETS'ing. You have to sign the DEC statement to show the Army that you plan to ETS as scheduled. The DEC statement is not punitive. The PCS orders can not act as "Stop Loss." They are effective AFTER your ETS. This means you are no longer on active contract and they cannot just arbitrarily send you somewhere else. The DD214 is a wonderful blanket of protection. After ETS your only obligation is what ever time you have left for the eight years of individual ready reserve.

Whoever advised you to take a or test and fail has no integrity and definitely doesn’t have your best interest at heart....sign the dec, get out as scheduled, no harm no foul, nothing derogatory. If you’ve been doing well your entire career why you you mess it up with something negative by following the advise of what we call a barracks lawyer... Be better than the negativity and get out the right way with pride. SGT (Join to see)
