How can I go AGR or Recruiter and stay in the same state? I am Army Reserve currently, would I have to transfer over to guard?

If you are looking to stay in your current state as an AGR recruiter you need to reach out to the AGR managers at the USAREC Battalions in your state.
This will be an E8 and O3 that manage the AGR recruiters for the USAREC Battalions in your state. They can tell you if there is a need for AGR recruiters in their Battalions. If there are vacancies you can drop your AGR packet and they can coordinate with USAREC to ensure you end up in their BN.

No if you are a Reservist TPU then go on HRC Website , apply for an AGR and wait, if you are qualified for Recruiter then they will select you. Hit me back if you need any assistance.

Go to the USAREC website and find the link for "RECRUIT THE RECRUITER". There should be instructions on how USAR Soldiers can volunteer for recruiting. First step is an AGR packet, but USAREC will help expedite because they need USAR recruiters. This is the fastest and easiest way to get into AGR. Keep in mind, while you will technically be an AGR reservist, your butt will belong to the Recruiting Command. Not trying to discourage you, but you should really evaluate and understand what the expectations of you will be as a Reserve Recruiter, and all that the job entails. If you are up to the challenge, then by all means do it. If not, it may take some time to find an AGR slot that is not recruiting. Good Luck!

SFC Joseph McCausland
Sgt Gage, I spent the last 10 years of my 22 as an AGR Recruiter.
I was very successful(see my LinkedIn Profile) in that role and can honestly say it was the best "gig" of my 22 year career.
Would be happy to connect, answer any questions and give you some insight on the demands and best course to make it a quality tour for you and your family.
Rank advancement is very rapid for those that excel in this field.
Best of Luck,
