How can I retrain out of a critically manned career?

Been in a 2A career for almost 10 years now. Body is wore out and honestly I don’t enjoy it anymore. Love being in the Air Force though. I want to see a new side of things. There’s a policy letter restricting 2A’s from retraining outside of an FTA retrain window. Unless it’s to another 2A. I’ve exhausted MYPERS, all available options within my current job, and AMS has jack for my position. Anyone know of any other options I could try? I really don’t wanna leave. But I do not want to do this job anymore. Thanks!

I don’t know if it’s the same concept as the Army, butbwe have Whats called “In/Out” calls. If there is a “No” for out calls (which is probably similar to being critically manned), you can’t get out unless you re-enlist. The only other option (for Army) would be to drop a SOF packet for SF, PSYOP, or CA. Is there anyway for you to get into AFSOC? Maybe as a PJ? I don’t know air force career paths, just trying to help out.

It’s pretty much the same. Re-enlisting gets me another term in this exact career unfortunately. The policy letter is allowing battlefield airmen as an exception, however, my body couldn’t handle that.
