I am approaching 90 days from ETS, I am an E5 with 10 years TIS in the Guard. Since I am past my 8 years MSO I know the IRR assignment will not be automatic. Guard Retention NCO doesn't want to do an IRR contract because I won't extend/re-enlist in the guard. I do not want to completely get out because I plan on possibly getting back in a TPU USAR slot. Anyone dealt with this, 368 not an option.

All I know is everyone I know who has gotten out after that many years regretted it. Reclass to another MOS, transfer to another unit, go ING for 6 months but don't shoot yourself in the foot and throw awy 10 years of your life. Think how fast 10 years goes by, I blinked and my first 20 were gone.

I agree and want to stay in a reserve capacity hence securing an IRR contract to make it easy to come back in the USAR. I do not want to stay in the guard, but they don't want to help me with transitioning smoothly into another service.
