How can I verify the enlistment or deployment status of a servicemember if I suspect they're lying?

A young coworker of mine recently started dating a guy who claims to be an 11B in the guard. Seems legit but a lot of details don't add up. For instance he says he's deployed right now for 14 weeks, the exact length of an 11B OSUT.

Probably not lying. Sounds like a young boot who doesn't know the difference between "training" and a "deployment." Or at least he's hoping she doesn't!

SSG (Join to see) - I think the term used back then for the Central and South American missions was Civil Action Programs. They were additional duty tours between 30 and 45 days. We also did "Keep Up" Missions with the Regular Army that were generally about the same length or a bit longer, usually during some exercise or event where they were worried about personnel numbers. My last trip to Germany was a Keep Up mission for the last Reforger.

PV2 Michael Whiddon - I've found that second hand information from the "significant other" is quite often questionable. Not on purpose mind you, but they usually have no idea what we are talking about and pass on information with just a partial understanding. I know my wife does it often.

The Guard isn't Delta Force, there will be a deliberate press release about the deployment. I agree with SSG Carlos Madden . Sounds like a boot that A. doesn't know what he is talking about and B. Wants to sound more important than he otherwise would be.
When he comes back, easiest way to check, "Where is your combat patch?"

Oh they decided not to get rid of those? I heard combat patches make new boots feel less special.

PV2 Michael Whiddon one Brigade did it for like a month. BDE Commander was making a point. Besides about 2/3 of a formation doesn’t have one due to attrition and less deployments

One question, why do you care? So, he maybe a couch warrior or a Trainees trying to improve his street cred w/ the ladies. If I were you, I would drop the issue or is the co-worker more of where your interests lie.?

We're all very close at work. She's been keeping the while crew updated on this. She asks me tons of questions because she knows I'm a vet. I came here looking for a qay to help her out but she got it sorted. The saga continues.
