I was speaking with a young Marine that just recently ETSed out of the service. Before he left Camp Pendleton , they told him they would send him his DD Form 214 to home of record, that was 6 months ago. Can anyone give me any information to pass along to this young devil dog to help him?

go to eBenefits, set up an account if you have done so, select the manage tab on the main navigation bar, go to document and records, then select military personnel file, follow the prompts and you will be able to download a copy of your DD Form 214 Service Copy 2. Give it a day or so, but when it's available for download you will get an email telling you so, so follow the same steps on eBenefits and you will see the option to download.

I got all of mine through the mail.
The entire 201 file and I also got my medical records to use at VA claims.

You should not leave without it as you sign it on the spot (CAC). He needs to call the office he outprocessed that said they'd mail it.

SGT Herbert Bollum you sit there, they type in an electronic form. You have to digitally sign it with your CAC ID card.

LTC Jason Mackay - that maybe now...but it was not done that way when I got out and apparently not when he was getting out.

SGT Herbert Bollum this poster got out AFTER me. That’s how I knew the process. It’s not like it’s typed in secret or sent of somewhere to be “done”. I had reviewed three iterations, four if you count the worksheet they give you before the appointment

LTC Jason Mackay - too bad it was so different when I got out.
I couldn't even get a DD-214 for my first enlistment.

Hmm I received my DD214 before I went on terminal at Lejeune strange. But I would first tell him to contact his prior unit Admin shop I'm sure they can get it for him. If not the next step would be he can request his record through HQMC. which I have done before to get my full record book which was still missing stuff lmao
