Once again the liberal left leaves us vulnerable and another shooting occurred. Here at the mall where my family has been shopping we had a shooting just one hour ago 15:00 19DEC15.

The letter of the law states that no weapons are allowed inside the mall. This means I had to take my weapon off my hip each time and leave it in the car. It defeats the purpose! Today, yet again, it defeated the purpose. So do these cowardly civilians believe signs are going to reach out and keep people safe? Maybe the fat mall renta-cops that couldn't get into the military or the police academy will do better than the signs. Again, no. Criminals don't give a crap about the damn signs other than knowing they can go into these "gun-free" zones and open season like the railroad days and the buffalo massacres.

We need to be able to put a stop to this. Maybe normal civilians should have some reasonable restrictions. However, I know that I was not the only service member around out of the thousands of people out there shopping for the holiday. I also know that we deserve a different standard, because we are not the same as civilians, even after ETS. It's a hard pill to swallow since everyone these days gets a participation trophy, but it's a fact.

So how do we get legislation passed to get a federal concealed carry for soldiers and veterans? I suggest we both go through specialized training and get certification before we do. Perhaps the certification should allow for us to be trained and certified as reserve deputy LEOs. We've been called out in places like Baltimore and Ferguson anyway.

One thing I know is that my weapon will not come off my hip unless I am at a courthouse, or an airport. My life and the life of my family come first, before any law of lesser power than the constitution. So should yours.

It will never happen until it is too late. I like the idea about extra training but that is why they are afraid of Vets. We have scary training and discipline......2 Things that most lack.

unless the sign is backed by a federal or state statute i disregard the preferences of a business. Not because I am a rebel, but because I place the safety of not only myself but those around ahead of the view and opinions of those who chose to allow themselves to become victims.

Corporal, I am kind of curious. So if I run a business and have a sign in the door or window that tells everyone coming in that weapons are not allowed, you would still enter carrying a weapon? It does NOT matter if it is backed by anyone, state or federal. Businesses are still, by their very nature, private property, even though they are open to the public. So maybe you need to re-examine your thoughts. Your very statement tends to make you think that people CHOOSE to be victims. But you do NOT have the right to inpose your "rights" upon someone elses, no matter what your reasoning might be.

You are right I don't....but the business owner doesn't have the right to impose their rights on me, no matter what their reasoning might be. Its one of those agree to disagree situations. Like i said, if its not a legal gun free zone.. i will not follow it.. its nothing more than a suggestion to me. I respect the law and those appointed to enforce it which is why i will follow posted Federal and state statutes.
with the way things are right now, people have to protect themselves. Plus, if i actually took my weapon back to my vehicle every time i saw a "Please don't carry in my place of business" posting i might as well leave it in my car permanently.

A1C Paul Cowan - The issue is when it is a public area, IE the public areas of the mall. Then again I vote with my wallet and go elsewhere.

Cpl Bryan Tallmadge - When I see such a sign, I move on to another business, understanding that such business owners don't want my business. Of course I believe the property rights of homeowners, and business owners is as valid and inherent as is any of our inherent rights to keep and bear arms. My Opinion, Regards.

I see two possible solutions to the problem. 1) Stop electing these "gun ban" nuts. 2) Make prior service a requirement to run for President. Making a draft dodging gun grabber Commander in Chief makes our country weak and deteriorates our rights.

Seriously? Tell me this. Have you met stupid people in the service? Look at the fool that we had some 7 years ago. Just because President Bush was in the service you think that he was good for this country? How about we start by banning idiots who keep spouting right wing idiocy like Liberals are going to take your guns! Because last I looked, you fools who keep saying its going to happen, well, it hasn't materialized, has it? But you keep telling people that it is going to happen though. Why is that? Because YOU believe it (Even where there is no proof) or because THEY (the right wing nuts on the TV and radio) tell you it will happen? Come on sergeant, tell me that your Marine service didn't completely take away your ability to look at the situation, take in all the facts and come to an independent conclusion?

You sure seem quick to bash others here who have a differing opinion.
You complain about others whining yet do so while whining yourself. Please take a look in the mirror.

A1C Paul Cowan - I have never quite been able to figure out this wing nonsense. Dysfunction in Government is the fault of all sides. However, being from Illinois, the last state in the union to allow concealed carry, and then only because the Supreme Court ordered it, I feel that I have a unique perspective.
As to the Bush you referred to, he was in the Air Force reserve, which he joined to dodge the draft during the Vietnam War and rarely showed up for drills.
The real problem is not politics, rather the inaction of all politicians and the inability of the powers to be in the individual states to work together, state to state to solve the problem. I once had a situation where two Chiefs of Police would not call each other on the phone to discuss a problem between the agencies because each thought he was more important and therefore neither would initiate the call. The problem was never solved, just ignored by both.
My point is bashing each-other solves nothing. We need to focus on ideas for resolutions to the problem. Unfortunately, the politicians long ago created a quagmire. It appears the only solution rests in the hands of the US Supreme Court by way of filing suit against the Government. Unfortunately, in order to do so the Government must agree to allowing the suit. Good luck with that.
I look forward to hearing from all and welcome any constructive ideas.

This will be a very interesting question and debate. I am just following it now. No strong idea of how this can be done in the right way.
